Frequently Asked Questions
Project
How are system requirements identified for the new
MMIS, Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise?
In late 2006 the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) issued a Request
for Proposal (RFP) to solicit proposals for Contractor services to replace the current
Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). The scope of the project is governed
by the requirements detailed in the RFP.
Proposals were submitted through a competitive bidding process. In fall 2007 DHSS
awarded the contract to Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) to design, develop, implement,
and operate a new MMIS, Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise.
Today ACS staff is working with a designated DHSS team to create the new MMIS, Alaska
Medicaid Health Enterprise. The new system is being built in response to the RFP.
When will Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise go live?
Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), the vendor supplying the new MMIS system, has
informed the MMIS DDI Replacement Project management team that delivery of the core
Enterprise product will be delayed; therefore, Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise
will be delayed.
This delay is not a reflection of the work done by the joint State/ACS
project team and the team continues to work to minimize the impact of the delay.
Development, also known as construction, of Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise will
begin on the Alaska specific requirements as the core Enterprise product becomes
available. Implementation of the new system is anticipated to be summer to early
fall 2011. Schedule updates, when finalized, will be posted to this site.
