Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise: Technology for the Future
Date: 06/30/2009
For the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) to reach our vision of providing
the best health care to Alaskans, we must bring fresh insight and innovation to
our business. One component that will help us reach that goal is technology, which
is why DHSS has embarked on the project to replace our outdated Medicaid Management
Information System (MMIS). The new MMIS, known as Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise,
will improve efficiency allowing DHSS to better manage health care outcomes.
On target for implementation in early summer 2010, Alaska Medicaid Health Enterprise
provides a solution that goes beyond claims processing and allows the State to move
to the next level of health care services. Benefits that will be immediately realized
include:
- paying claims more efficiently with real time adjudication
- streamlining processes through automation
- reducing paper
- fighting fraud and abuse with new tools
